The Athlete’s Foot (TAF) reported record global earnings in 2022.

The sneaker retailer reported full-year retail sales of $555 million, a 10% increase from 2021, which saw sales of $503 million. TAF did not break out its results by region.

TAF, which was acquired by Arklyz Group AG from Intersport International Corp. in July 2021, said it delivered these strong results amid major headwinds across the retail industry, including supply chain issues, inflation and political unrest.

Although the retail landscape presented some unique challenges in 2022, we are extremely enthusiastic about TAF’s financial performance in 2022 and proud to celebrate the outstanding performance of our community-based initiatives, programs, and partnerships with our partners,” said Param Singh, owner and CEO of Arklyz Group, which also owns the Baltimore-based chain Shoe City and European sneaker and streetwear retailer Asphaltgold.

In 2023, TAF said it will focus on new brand partnerships, opening more store locations and a new omnichannel store concept called the TAF 3.0 omnichannel “neighborhood” concept store. These locations will focus on driving engagement with local communities via specific products and efforts. The chain will also introduce new brand partnerships with with Polo, Sergio Tacchini, Crocs, Ethika and other streetwear brands.

TAF also highlighted its equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives in 2022, including the launch of its Impact Council in the Americas. This program empowers communities via enrichment and outreach programs. Supreme Store Moves to L.A. Location Once Home to a Tower Records Flagship

The new and improved Supreme store in West Hollywood has been open for only a week, but it immediately created a buzz and a streetwear-hungry crowd when it bowed on Feb. 16.

Limited merchandise drops sent people lining up on the sidewalk outside the Sunset Boulevard store, which previously had been a Tower Records outpost when records and compact discs were the way to listen to music.

The streetwear brand, built on the principle of scarcity, needed room to grow. Its cramped quarters on Fairfax Avenue a few miles away played havoc with the neighborhood, where street parking was limited. It was not unusual for customers to camp out overnight on the sidewalk or line up a full day before a limited merchandise drop.

At 8,500 square feet, the store is almost twice as big as the Fairfax Avenue location and has some 40 parking spaces for employees and customers. A Supreme employee stands watch on the adjacent residential thoroughfare to make sure store patrons aren’t taking up public street parking. Other employees direct customers in and out of the Supreme parking lot to make way for more cars.

Inside the store, the sleek decor is highlighted by tall white walls and polished concrete floors. “It’s cool,” said Jesse Villa, shuffling through a rack of clothes. He was making his second trip to the store to buy a skateboard. He liked the free-floating skate bowl occupying one section of the store and the colorful artwork on the walls by Nate Lowman, Josh Smith, Neckface and F–k This Life. A specially commissioned statue by pro skateboarder Mark Gonzales, showing a cartoon-like character driving a race car, sits in the middle of the store where

Recycled fashion brand opens eighth Nottingham store

“Recycled fashion” retailer White Rose, which was set up by two Nottingham Trent University students in 2009, has opened another new store in the city – its eighth in total.

The charitable fashion brand has opened the new shop on the upper mall of the Victoria Centre. As well as creating three new permanent roles, its team will be on the look-out for approximately 20 volunteers to fill the store’s day-to-day operations.

With the aim of reducing fast fashion’s impact on the environment and minimising waste, shoppers will find a range of second-hand men’s and women’s clothing, accessories and footwear.

Its offering of pre-loved items also features a mix of premium and high-street brands, including the likes of Ralph Lauren, Miss Selfridge, Adidas and Zara, among others.

Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome White Rose to the centre; a charitable fashion brand, founded here in Nottingham, making a real difference not only to the industry, but also our local community.

“Since the first store opening back in 2009, we’ve seen the positive impact White Rose has had in encouraging the uptake of pre-loved clothing and the reduction of waste.”

Lee Reynolds, general manager at White Rose, added: “We are delighted to be able to bring White Rose in to Victoria Centre. The centre has so much history within Nottingham and we can’t wait to be a part of that. The new flagship store will give Victoria Centre’s shoppers the opportunity to buy excellent second-hand fashion for a great cause. As we will be selling menswear and womenswear, we hope we are able to open up affordable, sustainable fashion to everyone.”
